December 2021 - ❄️ and ?

I wish I could post up a favourite snowflake pattern but it’s always the one I just made… I’m working on a reindeer, there was a gorgeous cute pattern in my latest Simply Crochet magazine so I sneaked into the yarn shop while unsupervised and bought 6 mini-balls of Ricorumi cotton. Now I’m listening to Victor Hely-Hutchinson’s Carol Symphony while I work and waiting for the snow - we had some on Monday but it vanished overnight, but more is due tomorrow. I’m also exhausted and covered in glitter, but I always put up the Christmas decorations on December 1, so there’s always glitter on that day.

@sheiskanen - I love how snow brightens things. My weather can be very grey in the winter but a good coating of snow makes it a lot brighter.

@Lemming13 Thank you so much for telling us about that Symphony. I have it playing in the background right now.

I love seeing your work and am looking forward to seeing your reindeer.

@lovestostitch - we only have a “dusting” of snow - the grass still shows through - I think @PeggThomas’s yard has what I’d like to have

for us each winter is different, sometimes the temperature rarely drops below freezing and we have only slush - but this winter it looks like it’s going to be cold, so any rain will come down as snow

My second skein turned out better than I thought.

I’ve already wound them up. Ready to knit

And my new WIP, a jumper for myself

I love how the colors show when you wound them. Jumper looking great.

Sweet!!! Looks like they will be fun knits.

Your knitting amazes me.

@sheishanen we average 75" of snow a year. Hubby is retired now and we’re planning to move north in another year or so - as in, across the river from Canada north - where average snowfall is around 125". But I enjoy winter, so it’s all good!

While I haven’t done much knitting lately, I have been working on some gifts. I made the first Bible cover as a practice for myself, and the second one for my sister.

I’ve also been trying to decide on colors for an Advent Bunting. I doubt I’ll have it done this year as I have a lot more gift sewing to do!

Beautiful! They turned out great!

Happy to see you here again - I’ve missed seeing you lately. Hope to see you on zoom!!!

Thanks, Char, I know I’ve been a little awol. We’ve been kind of house-hunting. What a time-suck that is.

Love them all.

Beautiful work!!

@Hellokitten Thank you for the recommendation of Coats and Clark. I started looking through the site and found these. I think I could wander around that site for quite a while.

So pretty!!

This is wonderful! I bet your sister is going to love hers.
My favorite Bible cover was a fabric one. Loved how I could just put it in the washer and dryer when I needed to.

However, the first time I saw fabric book covers was way back in high school. Some of the girls and their mothers were using fabric book covers to cover their romance books. That way they could read them everywhere without people noticing the Very Spicy covers. They had them to fit every size from paperback to hardcover. I remember thinking that was absolutely Genius. I loved the idea of reading and not having to have a conversation about the book I had chosen for that day.

Did you use a specific pattern for this cover?

@hereami I did use a pattern because I didn’t want to take the time to design! I found it on Etsy (I actually bought two and they are basically the same.

We won’t get snow where I live.
Thought I would send a pic of what it looks like down by the river this time of year.
The fog creates a stillness to the area. It was so lovely to just sit and think about what crafts I will do next.
Only reason I got moving from my viewing spot was because the coyotes were ‘talking’ around me and my dog. Which means I had been there long enough.
