This is going to be such a cute blankie when it’s finished! Every single square has been lovely so far.
I don’t know what the original idea was for the headband but it really is a perfect headband! And I LOVE your ocean blanket! The only things I miss about living in Cali are my family and regularly going to mountains and ocean. Whichever I was in the mood for.
Cute! Love the heart motif!
No wonder you’re aching! That’s a ton of sewing!
@KnitsWithHorses Thank you.
At the moment the only reason we still live here is because of school, and jobs and our central location to both the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Mountains. In reality we can afford to visit each only every so often. Our house can be listed for double what we paid for it, at the moment. So, we are wondering what to do.
@rkennell - I read your comment and wondered what you were talking about because I hadn’t done any hearts. Then I looked at the picture again and saw the heart! The pattern is called Diagon Ally.
Look at you all finishing big projects like blankets!
I finished a sleeve and the second color block on a stole this week.
Thanks for sharing this project. I have never really watched Marleybird before—I really liked her video style! I have some yarn in stash that could make this project and I could use intarsia practice…
I just about finished something that I think I am going to frog. I’m making slow but steady progress on my blanket. And I have a new yarn winder!! I love it!!
I frogged a pair of socks I knit recently after wearing them once. They were too itchy. I’ve noticed I can wear short cut socks knit with itchy yarn but my legs can’t take it. I thought I would use this yarn for heels and toes and short cuts. I did my first dye job where I mixed colors. I mixed Hot Fuchsia, Turquoise and Silver Gray. It’s still wet in the pot but it looks like I did a good job of matching the light purple color.
I’m not a video gamer myself, and not everything at the “cottage core” links describes my interests, but I do enjoy knitting, sewing, gardening, maintaining our property designation as a “National Wildlife Federation Backyard Wildlife Habitat,” feeding the hummingbirds, growing nectar-rich flowers for the butterflies. I appreciate hand-made touches, rustic decor, shabby chic, and minimalist.
Basically enjoying a simple life as a frugal housefrau after a rewarding career.
And yes, I prefer public utilities like water/sewer systems which support flush toilets (although I am intrigued by the composting toilets featured in many “Tiny Homes” as many describe them as odor-free and efficient).
Unfortunately, it seems that some socio-political movements are attached to various trends, including “cottage core” and there may be a wide range of understanding or interpretation of what any trendy term may mean to different people.
I am thinking about getting a yarn winder. Would you mind sharing info about your new one?
Happy Mother’s Day everyone! What are you doing to celebrate?
My son is making me a breakfast sandwich right now and later my son, my husband and I will all go out to the veggie garden and erect my new squash tunnel! Forget fancy presents - I’m excited about a squash tunnel! I will plant squash seeds, on both sides, at the base of this wire tunnel (made with cattle panels) and they will grow up and over.
Thank goodness, our weather has finally warmed up. It will be summer this week with temps in the 90’s!
Happy Mother’s Day to all! My husband made me a breakfast sandwich this morning. I believe the kids have gotten me some small gifts, and I will get in touch with my mother and other mothers in my life. Also, I will crochet! Perfect day! All that’s missing is rugby on the telly!
Happy Mother’s Day all!!!
Well…I will, but it was very expensive. I saved up for it for a long time. Here is the link: https://www.fiberartistsupply.com/maple-jumbo-yarn-ball-winder/
I e-mailed Karen Whooley and asked what yarn winder she would recommend. She said that her experience working in a yarn shop taught her that the typical plastic and metal ones have gears that wear out all the time. She has had the one from Fiber Artist Supply for 8 years and it is still going. The belt can be replaced. It does work really well. Very smooth and easy to use.
I’ll post a picture later.
Are you feeling better? Hope so
Started two projects from the new Vogue Knitting issue (spring summer 2022)
both using stash yarn
#11. Yarn is cestari Ashlawn, a 3-weight cotton wool blend that I got April 2021. (Didn’t work as a substitute for the pattern I purchased it for.)
#5. Super excited to find a pattern for this Louisa Harding yarn. I bought a sweater quantity in 2014 then only made a scarf. it’s a light weight silk wool blend. Perfect for tee and the gradual color fade will look nice
My squash tunnel is up and I’m relaxing while my son makes Thai Basil Chicken on Jasmine rice for dinner. Sure is nice to be treated so nicely.
