#25 - Tunisian Wave Stitch Pattern

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back! :fk:

Today we have 2 versions of the Tunisian Wave Stitch pattern!

This stitch pattern creates wonderful visual contrast using stitches that differ in height with no curl at all.

Though both methods can be worked in a single color, the pattern really stands out when using 2 colors in the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] method and 3 colors in the 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] method.

ROLLING WAVES

Materials:
2 balls of same weight yarn in contrasting colors.
Tunisian hook 2-3 times larger than the ball band recommendation.

A video for this method is available from Infiniti Crafting Co. The video can help with stitch placement, though the stitch count isn’t the same as this tutorial.

Stitches

 • TSS – Tunisian Simple Stitch
 • TDS – Tunisian Double Stitch – yo, insert hook under the vertical bar of the stitch in the previous row, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops.
 • TTS – Tunisian Treble Stitch – yo twice, insert hook under the vertical bar of the stitch in the previous row, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops twice

Use this stitch to avoid large holes in the edges when adding a border.
Begin with a ch in multiples of 8 + 4 in Color A. The sample swatch is made over 28 stitches.

A basic foundation row may be used by pulling up a loop in each of the back bumps of the chain, then use a basic return pass or start straight away with the wave pattern as follows:

ROW 1 – (Color A) TSS x2, *TDS x2, TTS x2, TSS x2*, repeat - until 3 stitches remain, TSS x3.
Basic Return Pass – change to Color B when completing last stitch.

ROW 2 – (Color B) ch3[SUP]1[/SUP], LTTS, TTS, *TDS x2, TSS x2, TDS x2, TTS x2*, repeat - to last stitch, LTTS.
Basic Return Pass – change to Color A when completing last stitch.
[SUB]1 Catch Color A in the 2nd ch to help hide the yarn when carrying up the side of the project.[/SUB]

Repeat rows 1 & 2 to preferred length.
Basic Bind Off.

Love it!!

That was awful sneaky posting that blanket yesterday!!! :fk::fk:

I’ve been looking for a good stitch for a crochet blanket in bulky yarn. I think this might work.

HeHeHe! :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
